Chiara Barberi

I’m a Communication & Graphic Designer exploring design as a cultural and political practice. My work draws on experiences across diverse fields, including photojournalism, classical studies, art and sociology. I focus on translating complexity into clear visual communication where meaning comes before form.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Communication Design from Politecnico di Milano. In 2024, I spent an Erasmus semester at Media University, in Berlin, where I further refined my practice.
Berlin in debt guide
2024  Editorial

Berlin in Debt Guide is an ironic and semi-satirical guide to life in Berlin, created to humorously explore the contradictions of the city. Through deliberately “wrong” advice, the guide shows how surprisingly easy it is to lose all your money among absurd rents, endless clubbing, expensive brunches, and questionable creative hobbies.

The project plays with the format of a traditional travel guide and subverts it: instead of helping readers save money, it leads them step by step toward financial disaster. Through illustrations, anecdotes, and sarcastic tips, Berlin in Debt Guidebecomes an ironic lens on urban precarity, expat culture, and the romanticized myth of Berlin life.

The result is a publication that combines editorial design, satirical storytelling, and social observation, turning everyday experiences in the city into a narrative that is both humorous and critical.
